Amelia B. "Millie" Mengel, 98, of East Stroudsburg, formerly of Tatamy, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Manor, Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Glenn A. Mengel who died in 1978. Born June 29, 1917, in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Licht) Peterson. During the war, Millie worked for Magnetic Windings and Binney & Smith in Easton, and later worked as a Floor Lady for various garment factories in the area, eventually retiring from Tatamy Sportwear. For many years, she was a very active member of Holy Cross Ladies Aid and enjoyed quilting with that group. Millie is survived by her loving daughter, Delores Mengel Gregory, and her husband Bruce of Wind Gap. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Deborah Shalosky (Alan) of East Stroudsburg, David B. Gregory (Josie) of Bath, and Tracy Boandl (Richard) of Whitehall; 4 great-grandchildren, Tara, Adam, Donovan and Felecia; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Amelia, Tyler, Joshua and Ashlee; and her favorite canine companions, Jackie and Judd. In addition to her parents and her husband, Millie was predeceased by her twin sister, Susan Keck, and her brother, George Peterson. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 18, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Davis presiding. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Millie's memory may be offered to Pocono VNA Hospice, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301
