Anne R. Thornton, 89, of Wilson Boro, passed away March 9, 2020 at her residence.

Born December 23, 1930 in Wilson, she was a daughter of the late Henry Calvin Zimmerman and the late Beatrice Peffer Peterson.

Anne was a graduate of the University of Arizona. She was an avid reader, loved movies, classical music and travelled extensively.

She was library director at Milford Public Library in Milford, NJ for several years and also served as librarian at Easton Public Library. Anne retired from Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ as a professional librarian. In retirement she was a well-liked substitute teacher in the Easton and Wilson Area School Districts.

Anne was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton and a 50 year member of the American Association of University Women. She was a past member of the Musical Arts Chorus and the Sullivan Trail Sertoma Club. She was listed in Marquis Who's Who of American Women, and Cambridge Who's Who Registry Among Executives and Professionals.

Anne leaves behind a beloved niece, Sandra Schaadt; nephew, David Schaadt; and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 17, from 10 to 11 am at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Anne will be laid to rest in Easton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Anne's name may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 234 Spring Garden St., Easton PA 18042, or to a charity of one's choice.
