Archie R.
Albanese
May 16, 1929 — May 15, 2026
Wind Gap
Archie Ralph Albanese, born May 16, 1929, passed from this life to eternity on May 15, 2026 at his home, just a day before his 97th birthday. He was the son of the late James and Clara Competillo Albanese, and resided in Wind Gap, PA for his entire life. He attended school in Wind Gap and Pen Argyl, and soon after graduating from high school (1949), he enlisted in the Air Force. After serving in the military, he returned to Wind Gap and worked in his father’s greenhouse business, then worked at Bethlehem Steel. He subsequently entered the apprentice program of the local IBEW and worked as an electrician until his retirement at age 62.
Archie was a former member of Bible Fellowship Church in Nazareth where he sang in the choir. Later, he joined Mount Eaton Church and continued to sing in the choir. He also joined “Brothers in Harmony” barbershop quartet and found much joy in the music and fellowship. Archie also enjoyed sports and played football in high school and while serving in the military. He coached his own sons’ Little League baseball team. His favorite teams to cheer on were the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies.
While attending an evangelistic meeting in 1969, Archie gave his life to the Lord and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ for more than 50 years. His faith became foundational to the way he lived, and he shared his love of the Lord with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family and his God, and as one who was always willing to help others. He leaves an example of faith and steadfastness to all who follow after him.
Archie was the husband of the late Janet Young Albanese who passed away on September 1, 2018. He is survived by his three sons: David and wife, Katy, of Wind Gap, Thomas of South Carolina, and Andrew and wife, Jennifer, of Blairstown, NJ. His continuing legacy includes nine grandchildren: Emily, Jesse, Laura, Julie, Alyssa, Michael, Joshua, Adam, and Daniel, as well as thirteen great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Leroy and his wife Sandra, of Wind Gap, sister, Jeanette Andrew, of Wind Gap, and sister, Norma Manento, of Pen Argyl. He was preceded in death by five siblings: Ernest, Nicholas, Theresa, Roger and Eugene.
Friends and family are invited to call Friday, May 22, from 10:00-11:00am, at Mount Eaton Church in Saylorsburg, PA. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am at the church. Interment will follow at Wind Gap Cemetery.
