Barry A. Cornell, 82, of Nazareth a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2025, at West Chester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Born on October 9, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, Barry was a man who overcame great challenges to lead an inspiring and rewarding life.

Barry spent his formative years at Mount Herman School for Boys, where he developed a love for learning and a resilience that would characterize his entire life. He furthered his education at Columbia University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Comparative Literature, and an MBA in Finance at Rutgers University. He then went on to a successful career in software development. Barry retired as the Senior Director of IT from TriZetto Provider Solutions in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and leadership.

Despite a tragic accident in his youth that left one of his arms paralyzed, Barry never let this setback define him. Instead, he channeled his energy into his passions. He was an avid gardener, cultivating a rose garden that bloomed with the most exquisite red roses. Barry also found solace and enjoyment in woodworking, creating furniture with such precision and detail that each piece was a testament to his skill and craftsmanship.

Barry was brilliant, his intellect was matched by his wit and wisdom. With a twinkle in his eye and a slight grin on his face, he could captivate any room with a great story or a clever one-liner. These qualities made him a cherished presence in the lives of many.

A man of great strength, Barry was also known for his four-decade-long recovery journey. His commitment to sobriety was unwavering, and he generously shared his experience, strength, and hope with others in the Alcoholics Anonymous Program.

His life was a remarkable journey of triumph and generosity. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda (Williams) Cornell; his brother, Robert Cornell and wife Diane of Watermill, NY; his niece, Lauren Cornell, her husband Josh Tonsfeldt, and their son Freddy of Kingston, NY; and his nephew, Robert Cornell, his wife Jacqueline, and their children Claire and Callum all of Brooklyn, NY. He was a son of the late Alton Snipes and Edith Cornell.

Helen Keller once said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." Barry embodied this spirit of overcoming, living a life that was a beacon of hope and joy to others.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation, Tuesday, January 13, from 1-2pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA 18064. A Memorial Service, led by Chaplin Grace Hochella, will follow in the funeral home at 2 pm. Burial, in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth, will be private.
