Beatrice B. Pritchard (née Bachman) passed away peacefully on June 29 at age 102. She was born in Nazareth on January 18, 1919, to Robert and Corna (Kindt) Bachman. At the time of her death, she was the only surviving sibling in a family of eleven children.

In 1939, Beatrice married Samuel E. Pritchard, who passed away in 1993. She is survived by their five children: Robert (California), Veronica (Australia), Gail (Pennsylvania), Judith (Oregon), and Samuel (Iowa). Although Beatrice was not able to pursue a formal education beyond her high school years, she was a lifelong learner who read widely, particularly newspapers, right up to the time of her passing. Over her working life, Beatrice was employed in a variety of food service positions. She took pride in being a homemaker, and especially in maintaining her expansive garden at her home in Nazareth. She was also an exceptionally skilled seamstress and a prize-winning creator of floral arrangements. Beatrice traveled widely throughout the United States and Australia to visit her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Many of her happiest days were spent with her husband at their rustic cabin in the Poconos, enjoying the view of Little Mud Pond and relaxing with family and friends. Beatrice will be lovingly remembered for her incredible strength, her deep faith, and the wisdom of her 102 years. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, July 6, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, to be followed by a noon service at the funeral home and a burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
