Betty J. Pittenger, 94, of Pen Argyl, formerly of Easton passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice, Allentown. Born June 1, 1924, in Upper Nazareth Township, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mamie King Mabus. Betty and her beloved husband William shared 69 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2015.

Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a gentle and kindhearted person who always put others before herself - her family understood they always came first. She had a way about her that was very comforting and would make you believe everything would be alright even during difficult times. Happiest moments were spent at her home, often full of grandchildren. Although Betty enjoyed canning and was an excellent cook, it may be her baking of holiday cut out cookies that her family will miss the most.

Betty was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Boro.

She is survived by two sons, Ray and his wife Mariellen of Easton, and Lloyd and his wife Barbara of Nazareth; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Warren and Donald Pittenger, 1 daughter, Thelma Dornblaser and 1 granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 5, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Betty will be laid to rest in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
