Blaine R. Rodgers, 90, of Nazareth, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Gracedale. He was the beloved husband of Vera Edelman Rodgers who passed away on February 8, 2016; together they shared 56 years of marriage.
Born January 24, 1927 in Nazareth, he was the only child of the late Clarence and Mae Hawk Rodgers.
Blaine was a 1944 graduate of Nazareth High School and honorably served his country in the US Navy during WW II aboard the USS Hooper Island Arg-17. During his Navy career, he was the recipient of the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and the Occupation Ribbon.
Blaine worked for Cro-Tone Co. for 12 years and later the C.F. Martin Co., retiring after 35 years of service.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the American Legion Post #415, both in Nazareth.
Blaine enjoyed animals and working outside, especially in his garden.
He is survived by his only child, daughter Kim Ventin and her husband John of Upper Nazareth; 2 grandchildren, Angie Gazzano and her husband Michael, and Adam Ventin and his partner Danielle; 4 great-grandchildren, Giuliana and Nicholas Gazzano, and Nicco and Gabriella Ventin; and a niece Susan Edelman.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St. Nazareth. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Brinks presiding. Blaine will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth. Memorials in Blaine's memory may be offered to St. John's UCC, 183 South Broad St., Nazareth PA, 18064.
