Bruce W. Samson, 74, of Stroudsburg, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away on Thursday, December 24,

2020 at his residence.

Born November 2, 1946 in Scranton, he was a son of the late George and Grace (Yankus) Samson.

Bruce was a 1964 graduate of Pen Argyl High School where he excelled in sports. He was a member of

the 1963 undefeated football team and was district champion in shot put in his senior year. He

honorably served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and later graduated from East Stroudsburg

State College.

Bruce worked as a Hazmat Transportation Specialist for the Tobyhanna Army Depot, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Mountain, Delaware Water Gap, life member of the

Moscow Rod and Gun Club, the NRA and the F&AM. Bruce loved the outdoors and enjoyed adventure.

His pastimes included golfing, traveling, small plane rides with his son-in-law Kevin, walks on the

Plainfield trail with his family, and hunting. His hunting trips took him to Lake Ariel, where he spent

much of his childhood summers, Colorado and a most memorable excursion to Africa. Bruce loved to

laugh and he enjoyed people. He was proud of his family, and loved the time they spent together. He

cherished his precious granddaughters; would find any reason to visit them just to give them a hug, and

particularly enjoyed watching their horseback riding lessons.

He is survived by his wife Darla Stem of Stroudsburg, his only child, Jennifer Samson-Acker and her

husband Kevin of Nazareth, 2 granddaughters; Helaina and Leah, and his sister Marjorie Fredlund of

Florida. Along with his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his brother George Samson in 1967.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a closed private service will take place, but will be live streamed on

Presbyterian Church of the Mountain's Facebook page January 2nd at 2 P.M. (The service will later be

available on the church's website.) Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC,
