Obituary

Carl R. Lattimore, 76, of Wind Gap, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at LVHN - Monroe County Hospice House, East Stroudsburg. Born on May 3, 1949, in Billings, MT, he was a son of the late Reagan and Nadine (Williams) Lattimore. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan (Wessner) Lattimore. The couple was just shy of celebrating their 20th anniversary, a milestone they traditionally honored with a trip to Ocean City, MD, a place that held many cherished memories for them both.

A proud graduate of Hurley High School, Carl honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. After his military service, he settled in the Lehigh Valley, dedicating 41 years of employment with ESSROC Corp. until retirement as a shift supervisor.

Carl was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and his enthusiasm for his team was infectious. Although his interests were varied, he relished his golf games, was passionate about fishing—especially trips to Minnesota for Walleye—and took great pleasure in gardening. Carl's love for travel and adventure was shared with his family during annual trips to the Kalahari or Great Wolf Resorts, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

He was a member of the American Legion Thursday Golf League, Bath American Legion Post #470, F & AM - Whitfield Lodge #622, and Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap.

In addition to his wife Sue, the legacy of Carl's kind and loving spirit lives on through his children; Nicole Hess (Michael) of Stockertown, Eric Rice (Tracy) of Bethlehem, Sherri Beck (Bruce) of Bath, and Jamie Rice (Michelle) of Odenton, MD; and brothers, Larry Lattimore (Mary) of Stacy, MN, and Sam Lattimore (Joyce) of Deer River, MN;. His life was further enriched by the joy of his eight grandchildren, Jenna, Samantha, Taylor, Evan, Rylee, Raygen, Alex, and Aiden, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and "slightly funny dad jokes;" along with his nephews, Joe, Matt, Jeremy, and Tom.

As we remember Carl, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family. He will be profoundly missed.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 10 -11 am Saturday, August 30 in Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry St., Wind Gap, PA 18091. A Memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at a later date.
