Obituary

Clayton E. Brewen, 84, of Wind Gap, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Dorothy "Dottie" Weidman Brewen, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage last June. Born: June 23, 1929 in Plainfield Township, he was a son of the late Michael and Abbie Moyer Brewen. Personal: Clayton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving his country during the Korean conflict. He worked for Bangor Clothing, Scotty's Fashions, and A & P Supermarket for 28 years where he retired. Clayton enjoyed landscaping and working outdoors, and volunteered at the Wind Gap Park. He liked to keep busy and you could always find him fixing things or working in his yard, which he took great pride in. Memberships: Clayton was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield Township, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wind Gap where he helped with the spaghetti dinners and enjoyed volunteering for church projects. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #724, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union #1776, and UNITE. Survivors: In addition to his beloved wife Dottie, Clayton is survived by one son, Barry and his partner Stephen Ledyard of Woodbury, NJ; one daughter, Judy Jones and her husband Steven of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter, Kimberly Jones; one grandson, Jeffrey Jones; one great-grandson Liam; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Services: A private funeral service and burial will be held under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 202 West St., Wind Gap. Memorials: Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Rd., Pen Argyl, PA 18072.
