David Ross Ellis, age 83 of Easton PA, passed away peacefully in his home on July 3, 2023 after a courageous effort to overcome esophageal cancer and Parkinson's disease.
Dave was born on April 3, 1940 to F. Ross and Elsie Ellis in Rocky River, Ohio. Growing up in a close-knit community, he learned to value kindness, integrity and humor, which he reflected and shared with all who knew him throughout his life. After graduating from Rocky River High School in 1958, he built his own car before college and then went on to obtain bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at Purdue University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively.
After MIT, Dave's first job was with Interdata, a maker of 32-bit minicomputers that at the time represented cutting edge technology. This kick-started a 45-year career in executive leadership at companies specializing in data analytics and precision instrumentation.
In 1960, Dave met Linda Jacobs at Purdue. Dave and Linda married in 1962 and went on to have 2 children, Ross and Margo.
In 2010, Dave retired and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports, music and theater performances. He frequently attended local minor league baseball games with Linda and family. Throughout his life, Dave liked strategy games such as bridge, backgammon, and asking his family to solve brain-teasers.
Throughout his life, Dave was known and loved for his friendly disposition and his ability to make those around him feel welcomed and valued. He was always eager to listen, learn, and connect. His warmth, charisma, and genuine interest in people made him a friend to all he met.
Dave was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda Ellis. He is survived by his sister Joan Anderson, his children Margo Christou and son-in-law Alex Christou and son Ross Ellis, and daughter-in-law Joanne Ellis and his grandchildren Nate and Sami Christou, and Abigail, Ross and Joseph Ellis.
