David Valentine Knauss-Hauck, 20, the cherished and only son of Jennifer Knauss-Hauck and Mark Hauck of Coatesville, was a beacon of kindness and empathy in a world that often feels lacking in both. Born on May 19, 2005, in Paoli, David's journey was one marked by love, laughter, and a deep-seated passion for the world around him. Sadly, on March 21, 2026, in Philadelphia, David's journey came to an untimely end. Yet the legacy he leaves behind is one of profound impact and enduring warmth.

Those who knew David will remember him for his gentle nature and thoughtful demeanor. He possessed the gift of being able to empathize and relate to others. He approached life seriously and demonstrated a quiet sense of maturity well beyond his years.

David had a big heart, a great sense of humor and was well loved by everyone who knew him. He was greatly loved by all his friends. Maintaining friendships, with childhood buddies, and close ties, to his immediate family, aunt and maternal grandparents is a testament to his loyalty and the depth of his character. But perhaps it was the bond he shared with his sister, Olivia, that played one of the most positive and significant factors in his life.

David's journey through life manifested a passion for learning and for sports. From his early days playing baseball with Caln Township to his later years excelling in soccer and basketball at Montgomery School in Chester Springs, David's athletic spirit shone brightly. A proud graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School, in Downingtown, he furthered his studies at Temple University. During his time there, he pledged with Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.

Although he was well versed on many topics. David's interests were as varied as they were deep, ranging from a fascination with history and politics to an expanding love of cooking. However, it was his ongoing passion for sports that truly captured his heart. An avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers, David's enthusiasm for his teams was infectious. He proudly adorned clothing with the logos of his favorite teams, watched games on TV with fervor and attended games whenever he could. And along with his family, he cheered his teams on with unrivaled enthusiasm.

Time spent away from home included recent travel to Africa, "annual" family trips to the Ocean City, MD and frequent visits to his grandparent's home in Tatamy. Often, during those times, David attended Schoeneck Moravian Church, where he was baptized and visited frequently. His spiritual foundation was a guiding light, offering solace and purpose.

In addition to his parents, David is survived by his beloved sister, Olivia Knauss-Hauck, and her fiancé, Max Horn, of Reading; maternal grandmother, Cookie Knauss of Tatamy; paternal grandfather, Gary Hauck of Manheim; aunt, Amy Edelman (Gary) of Wind Gap; and uncle, Adriano Hauck (Damiana) of Philadelphia; and his dog, Corey Baxter, a source of joy and comfort throughout his life. David's spirit is now reunited with his maternal grandfather, George Knauss, and paternal grandmother, Lea Hauck.

As we gather to remember David, friends and relatives are invited to a viewing on Sunday afternoon, March 29, from 2-4 pm at Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, and again on Monday morning, March 30, from 10-11 am at Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N Broad St. Ext, Nazareth. A Funeral Service will follow in the church, Monday at 11 am, with Reverend Ian Edwards presiding.

Additionally, as we honor David, there will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, April 11, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Chester Springs Creamy/Milky Way Farm, 521 E. Uwchlan Ave. Chester Springs, PA 19425.

Even in memory, David's ability to inspire and motivate is a source of encouragement and the family would like to share the following message: "Take care of a friend, a loved one and yourself. If you or someone who you know needs help, call or text 988. You are not alone."
