Delores L. Bennett, 87, of Nazareth, formerly of Phillipsburg, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the VNA St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Everett Bennett, with whom she celebrated 68 years of marriage at the time of his passing in June, 2016. Born May 4, 1929, in Lake Ariel, PA, she was a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Clara Tucker Smith.
Delores graduated from Pocono High School. Over the years, she worked at Giddlemans Blouse Factory in the Poconos, the Woolworth in Phillipsburg and as an Avon representative. For many years, she was a member of bowling leagues at Warren Lanes in Phillipsburg and also locally. She enjoyed playing cards and games, gardening and family vacations. She was a former member of Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg.
Delores is survived by her loving children, Barbara Pursell of Minnesota, Nancy Gerhart and her husband Barry of Quakertown, Ann Ricci and her husband Jay of Corning, NY, and Jeff Bennett and his wife Lori of Bushkill Twp. She was a loving grandmother to Benjamin, Shannon, Paul, Jr., Justin, Jamie, Kristin and Amanda, and a loving great-grandmother to Chandler, Logan, Paul III, Austin, Hailey, Jayden, Corinne and Brooks. Also surviving is her brother, Donald Smith and his wife Joan of McMichaels, and her sister, Betty Evans and her companion Fred Giordano of Tannersville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Horace Smith and two sisters, Tina Graeber and Emma Weaver.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 am on Monday, December 5, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere Street, Nazareth, PA, where the funeral service will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton.
