Donald R. "Ducky" Edelman, 94, a longtime resident of Tatamy, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 12, 2025.  Born September 18, 1930, in Northampton, he was the son of the late Harvey and Minnie (Muschko) Edelman. Ducky was a milk truck driver who, one day at a farm in Bethlehem, met his beloved wife Miriam S. "Mim" (Groner), with whom he shared 73 years of marriage.

"Ducky / Bobo" was employed by Binney & Smith Company (Crayola Crayons) for 40 years until retirement.  In that time, he worked in many different departments and retired from his final job as a Plumber.  In his free time, Ducky was the local handyman, fixing and remodeling many of the homes in Tatamy and in the local area.

Donald was raised in the Lutheran faith and lived his life steadfast to his values of a good Pennsylvania Dutch background.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  He and Mim spent many years at their hunting cabin in Shunk, Sullivan County, PA.  After retirement Ducky spent every October camping in Pulaski NY salmon fishing.

Donald and Miriam were inseparable for the 73 years they were together.  They were best friends and were always by other sides.  They traveled the east coast from Florida to Canada.  Donald loved to have a clambake with family and friends.  Everyone that knew him quickly became a part of his family.

Donald was Past Grand Tall Cedar of Lebanon, Easton Forest #35.  He was a Master Mason at Whitfield Lodge and was a Rajah Shiner.  Donald was Fire Chief and President of Tatamy Fire Company for many years.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Randy Edelman and his wife Donna of Bangor, Sharon Smith and her husband Brian of Sullivan County, and Gary Edelman and his wife Amy of Bushkill Township; grandchildren Dean Williams (Stephanie), Kellen Williams (Melissa), Ashley White (Jeremy), Wayde Edelman (Christiana) and Shelby Meckes (Asher); 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marlene (Edelman) Newhart.  He was predeceased by a daughter in infancy, Norma Jean.

The family would like to thank all the special Hospice staff and the caregivers who spent many hours and days with Donald over the past year.  It was their special loving care that kept him comfortable and happy throughout this time.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, June 19, from 9:30 -11 am in the Forks UCC Church, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery, Stockertown.
