Doris N. Koehler passed away peacefully on the morning of May 16, 2023 in Clifton Park, NY. Born on January 17, 1928 in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of William S. and Katherine (Emery) Donnally.
Doris was a graduate of Wilson High School in 1945 and worked as a legal secretary for Teel, Stetz, Shimer, and DiGiacomo from 1968 to 1981, specializing in estates.
Doris was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Nazareth. She and her husband taught Sunday School for many years and Doris was a member of the Grief Committee. She was Co-Chairperson with Adele Roth of the St. John's Koehler/Roth Memorial Golf Tournament. Her greatest love was children, and in her retirement, she was the Founder of St. John's Lutheran Day Care in April 1989. She was Chairperson of the Board of Directors until November 2017.
Doris was an avid sports fan, including the New York Yankees (naturally) and college sports, especially Penn State. She was known for her kindness, friendship, and impeccable style. Her hobbies included ceramics, painting, sewing, quilting, and gardening.
Doris was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth. They had been married for 50 years at the time of his death in 1996. Sadly, her oldest daughter Karen passed away in 2002. Doris was also predeceased by her parents and siblings Catherine, Richard, and Shirley.
Doris is survived by her daughter Maureen Donnally of Ballston Lake, NY and son Scott Koehler of Bradenton, FL. She is survived by her nephew Neil Shook and his daughters Andrea and Erin; her niece Connie Shook and her son Charlie; her sister-in-law Renee Williams and her sons Erik and Gregory; and her nephew Walter Brown and his family. Doris is survived by her grandchildren Ryan Meath and his partner Rachel Mullis of Burlington, VT; Daniel Meath and his wife Danielle of North Smithfield, RI; Lauren Meath and her husband Andrew Ohrin of Red Hook, NY; and Jake Goldstein and his wife Lisa of Celina, TX. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Madeleine, Thomas, Henry, and Caroline.
A memorial service for Doris at St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad St., Nazareth will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 am. Donations, in her memory, may be offered to St. John's Lutheran Day Care.
