Dorothy "Dottie" Robbins was born on March 26, 1950 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston, PA to the late Clyde and Alice Evans Robbins. She was the loving wife of John Petrilak; together they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Dottie passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 in St. Luke's Hospice House.
Dottie was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School, class of 1968, and was a faithful member of Zion Presbyterian Church since 1961, where she was a leader in the Ladies Auxiliary, church session and church family.
For many years, Dottie served the Wind Gap community where she coordinated and volunteered for the annual Wind Gap Car Show, and coached girl's softball for the Wind Gap Area Athletic Association for 25 years, where her teams won multiple league championships. She also volunteered in the PTA and the Band Boosters for Pen Argyl Area School District.
Dottie was the founder, proprietor and educator of Dottie's Day Care, educating generations of children which included frequent visits to Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center. She also served as bookkeeper for the Petrilak Fruit Farm where she managed the fruit stand and conducted school field trips. She loved nature, animals and her cats, Mufasa and Ruby.
Along with her husband John, Dottie is survived by her son, John C. Petrilak of Saylorsburg and grandson Braden Petrilak; her daughter Sherry (Petrilak) Acevedo and husband Alex, and grandchildren, Jacob and Paige Acevedo; and siblings, Skip and Pat Robbins and family, Florence (Robbins) Jones and husband David and family, and Gloria (Robbins) Ladlee and her husband Harry and family; as well as aunt, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her infant children, Bradley and Crystal; her brother James "Jimmy" Robbins; her cats, Lucky and Simba; and Irish Setter dogs, Red and Shannon.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling on Saturday, June 26 from 9:30 to 11:00 am in Zion Presbyterian Church, 16 Water St., Wind Gap. A memorial service will follow at 11 am in the church. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dottie's name to be offered to Zion Presbyterian Church, PO Box 194, Wind Gap, PA 18091.
