Obituary

Duane F. Kachline, 93, of Belfast, passed away on June 29, 2022 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem.  Born October 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Francis and Mae (Roth) Kachline and the beloved husband of the late Shirley "Shuz" Audrey Broad Kachline.  Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2012.

Duane attended Nazareth High School and later was employed by Follett LLC for 30 years before retirement.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening.  His appreciation for nature, animals and the outdoors cannot be under stated.  One of the greatest memories he often shared was a trip to Alaska with his wife Shuz.  Duane was a practical man who was resorted to good sense and his own style of innovation.  He was also considered a wonderful "teacher" to his children, never tiring and being patient in explaining what he knew.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing quoits at the Tatamy Fire Co. and regardless of age, he always smiled at eating dessert.

Duane is survived by daughters Terry Kocher and Linda Gold and her husband Dennis; grandchildren, Allison Remaley and her husband Justin, Micah Kocher and his wife Mallory, Trisha Fistner and her husband John, and Jeremy Gold; great grandchildren, Jack, Dylan and Ryan Fistner and Marcus, Liam, Jackson and Lucas Kocher; brothers, Dale Kachline and wife Gloria "Dolly", Ray Kachline and wife Barbara, Richard "Bucky" and wife Elenora "Nori", and a sister Nancy Weisel; in addition to his parents and his wife Shuz, he was predeceased by a brother Jimmy Kachline and sisters, Judy Hartzell, Joan Wenner, Norma Evans and Shirley Youngkin.

A private visitation will be held followed by a public graveside service on Saturday, July 2, beginning at 11 am at Forks Cemetery, Stockertown.  Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.  In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations in Duane's honor, may be offered to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/
