Obituary

Edward C. Hahn, 77, of Stroud Township, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Gail P. (Hopper) Hahn, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on September 7th Born on March 19, 1938 in Stockertown, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Anna Kessler Hahn. Ed worked for Ingersoll Rand in New Jersey, from where he retired in 1987 at the age of 49 after 31 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to go hunting in Potter County with his buddy, Barry Hagan of Phillipsburg, NJ; in Canada, where he got an award for bagging the biggest moose in 1969; and in Maine where he also bagged his first bear in 1989. He also loved fishing and camping and four wheeling with his girls and grandchildren. He was of the Lutheran faith. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his daughters, Gloria Hahn of Belfast, and Karen J. Monaghan and husband John of Allentown. Also surviving are five Grandchildren, Stephanie Gornick and husband Joe of Pen Argyl, Crystal Butz of Hecktown, Amy Hettle and husband Kyle of Wind Gap, Jill Kirchgessner and Kari of Nazareth and Ashley Hagan and Fiancé William D'Amaro of Wescosville; five Great-Grandchildren, Kaylie Hettle, Zachary Gadow, Julie D'Amaro, Keegan Hettle and Christian D'Amaro; an Aunt, Irene Racciato of Fountain Hill; a Cousin, Larry Racciato of Allentown; his best friend for countless years, Claude Bender of Wind Gap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Edward C. Hahn, Jr.; his brother, Arthur Hahn, Jr.; and his sister, Mildred Crosson. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday evening, October 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 202 West Street, Wind Gap. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Wind Gap Cemetery.
