Elizabeth "Betty" Joyce, known affectionately as Liz to her family and Betty to her friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, while surrounded by her loved ones at Country Meadows of Forks Township. Born on June 23, 1925, in Tamaqua, Liz was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Jennerina (Raico) Saraceno and grew up in a lively household as one of six siblings.

Liz's life was marked by her enduring spirit and the love she shared with her late husband, Francis Joyce, who predeceased her in 2001. Her memory will be treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, and their children, who were all moved by her kindness and generosity. Liz was the last of her generation, having been predeceased by her four brothers, Joseph, John, Michael, and Angelo Saraceno, and her sister, Carmella Romano.

For over four decades, Liz, alongside her sister, was the proud co-owner and operator of the Deluxe Beauty Salon in Allentown. Her impeccable sense of style and grace left a lasting impression on her clientele and colleagues. Even after retiring in the 1980s, Liz remained active and engaged in life, always looking forward to shopping trips and the occasional "just for fun" visit to the casino.

Liz's zest for life was matched only by her loyalty and devotion to her family. Her close-knit family was a source of immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them sharing good times and much laughter. In June of this year, Liz was honored by numerous friends and family during her 100th birthday celebration, a testament to the many lives she touched with her warmth and friendship.

Liz had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Tuesday, December 23, from 10:30 -11:30 am, in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth followed by a Graveside service, at noon, in Holy Savior Cemetery, 2575 Linden St, Bethlehem.

Liz's family would like to thank the entire staff at Country Meadows of Forks for the incredible care they bestowed upon Liz during her time there. She could not have had a more caring group of individuals watching over her. We also owe a great deal of gratitude to Lifesong Hospice and Amada Senior Care for helping make her final days so comfortable.
