Elton E. Johnson, 92, of Nazareth, passed away on Saturday evening, May 9, 2020 in St. Luke's Hospice with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Nancy Marsh Johnson; together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Born July 26, 1927 in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Eugene and Emma Woodring Johnson.

Elton honorably served his country in the US Navy and later worked in the family business, the Nazareth Steam Laundry, which he later owned. In the 1960's, the business merged with Mary MacIntosh where Elton continued the work he loved, until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always looked forward to spending time with his family. One of his favorite past times was striking up a conversation and reminiscing about the "old days".

Elton was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Nazareth.

He is survived by 3 daughters; Valerie Snyder and her husband Dean of Schnecksville, Deborah Werkheiser and her husband Richard Jr. of Northampton and Lee Ann Paff and her husband Wayne of Forks Township, 5 grandchildren; R C Werkheiser and companion Lisa Snyder, Jennifer Boyer and husband Adam, Heather Gardner, Korey Paff and wife Melanie, Kelsey Werkheiser and companion Corey Nycz and 5 great grandchildren; Rylee, Karissa, Daymian, Emily and Blake.

Elton was predeceased by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Elton's name may be offered to St. John's UCC, 183 South Broad St., Nazareth PA 18064 or St. Luke's Hospice House, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
