Obituary

Elwood George Knauss Jr., 80, of Tatamy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 24, 2022 in St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus after being stricken at home.  He was the loving husband of Carolyn A. "Cookie" (Stocker) Knauss.  Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born May 31, 1942 in Wilson Boro, he was a son of the late Elwood G. Sr. and Marie Emma (Oplinger) Knauss.

George was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1962.  Early in life he operated a Bobtailor Bakery Route and later was employed as a materials handler at Binney and Smith, retiring in 2004.  George was a member of Schoeneck Moravian Church where he served as a greeter and usher and volunteered with the Community and Thanksgiving dinners.  George was known for his kind nature and infectious smile. He was proud of his family and always looked forward to time spent with them, especially the annual summer trip to Ocean City, Maryland.  He loved the Phillies, Iron Pigs, Eagles, walking Zebbie, swimming, bowling and being fussy with his yard.

In addition to his wife Cookie, George is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Knauss-Hauck and her husband Mark and Amy L. Edelman and her husband Gary; grandchildren Olivia Leigh Knauss- Hauck and David Valentine Knauss- Hauck; brother Roger Knauss and his wife Mary; many nieces and nephews and grandpups, Corey Baxter and Levi Corey.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Doris Anthony.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Tuesday, November 1 from 6-8 PM in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth and Wednesday, November 2 from 10-11 AM in Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N. Broad St., Ext. where the funeral service will at 11 AM.  Burial will be private.

Memorials in George's name may be offered to the church or The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton PA, 18042.
