Elwood Earl Mack, 86, of Wind Gap, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at his residence.  He was the husband of the late Elsie Viola (Counterman) Mack with whom he shared 48 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2005.  Born in Wind Gap, he was a son of the late Earl and Ethel Weidman Mack.

Elwood was employed by the slate quarries and farms in the Slate Belt area.  Elwood enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and deer in his yard, listening to the bands at local parks and attending tractor pulls and demolition derbies with his grandson.

He was a member of Hope UCC in Wind Gap where he faithfully mowed the grass and volunteered at the dinners.

He will be loving remembered by his daughters Jennie Mack of Wind Gap and Christine Rowe and husband Randy of Pen Argyl and son Steve Mack and his partner Linda Hilbert of Wind Gap. Grandchildren Randy Rowe,Jr., Jacob Rowe, Eric Kindrew, Ashley Berhel and Erin Hilbert.  Great grandchildren Carter, Caidence, Olivia, Emily and Brayden as well as his sister Alice Kessler of Bangor and brother David Mack and wife Nadesa of Virginia.

In addition to his parents and wife Elsie, he was predeceased by his daughters Patricia (Mack) Newman and Donna Lee Mack; brothers Lynwood Mack and Roland Weidman and sisters Aletha Hinton, Leona Davanzo and Kathleen Kern.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, December 8 from 10-11 am in Hope UCC, 701 Cherry St., Wind Gap followed by the funeral at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Wind Gap Cemetery.
