Etta H. Johnson, 97, formerly of Altoona, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA. She was the wife of the late Ernest Johnson, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1977. Born on July 13, 1919, in Altoona, Etta was one of six children born to the late Emil and Etta Kephart Zimmerer.

Etta graduated from Altoona High School. She later attended cosmetology school and moved to Washington DC, where she worked for many years as a hairdresser at the Senate Building. While living in Washington DC she met and married her husband Ernest. After retiring, Etta returned to Altoona, where she became an active member of the community and the First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg. She had been a resident at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA for the past twelve years.

Etta is survived by her sister, Elsie Myers, of Moravian Hall Square. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Alfred and Herman, and sisters, Martha and Elizabeth.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth, PA.
