Obituary

Eva T. Gearhart, 93, of Easton, formerly of Leesport, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 in Alexandria Manor, Nazareth. She was the wife of Walter E. "Skip" Gearhart who passed away in 1987. Eva was born on July 3, 1921 in Reading, a daughter of the late Grover and Pearl Grater. She was a graduate of Reading High School known as "Castle on the Hill" and later worked in the Berkshire Silk Mills during WWII. Eva was a fabulous cook, a talented seamstress and had a close and loving relationship with her family. Before she moved to Easton, her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren would make weekly trips to the Reading area to spend the weekend with "Nana". She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Forks Township. Eva is survived by one daughter; Penny Pados and her husband Edward of Forks Township, three grandchildren; John Pados and his wife Joanne, Karen Hershey and her husband John and Ellen Crowell and her husband Gordon and six great grandchildren; Josh, Madison, Mason, Emma, Christopher and Corey. She was predeceased by her grandson Timothy Pados and sister Rosa Martin. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 16, from 10-11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Funeral services will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Crume presiding. Burial will be in St. John's Gernant's Cemetery, Leesport. Memorials in Eva's name may be offered to Heartland Hospice, 881 Marcon Blvd., Allentown, PA 18109.
