Frederick G. Balliet, 96, of Nazareth, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of Jean (Kleintop) Balliet, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born November 9, 1918 in Ashfield, PA, he was a son of the late James J. and Annie A. (Rehrig) Balliet. Fred attended Palmerton Area High School until 11th Grade and graduated from Liberty High School. He worked in the Repair and Maintenance Department of the Bethlehem Steel Foundry, and retired as a millwright after 35 years of service. Fred enjoyed attending the YMCA, which he did for more than 39 years, up until the age of 90. He also enjoyed going camping. Fred was a very active member of Nazareth Moravian Church, where over the years he served as a Trustee, a Diener, an Usher and Secretary to the Sunday School. Along with his beloved wife Jean, Fred is survived by a daughter, Harriet Harhart, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Frederick Balliet, four brothers and two sisters. Relative and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 24, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Nazareth Moravian Church, 4 South Main Street, Nazareth. Funeral services will be held in the Church at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Jeffrey Gehris presiding. Burial will follow in Nazareth Moravian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere Street, Nazareth.
