Obituary

Gary Hunt Sr., of Plainfield Township, passed away Friday August 18, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital – Anderson Campus.  Born May 11, 1946, in Pen Argyl, he was a son of the late Kenneth L. and Ruth C. Apple Hunt.  He was the beloved husband of Barabara Jennings Hunt with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Gary was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1965.  A good provider for his family, he held several jobs through the years including work at Dally Slate Quarry, Blue Ridge Textile, Flory's Feed Mill and the former Dixie Co. until retirement.

He enjoyed many activities and when he was younger, he would go hunting or fishing and belonged to the Suburban Dart League for several years.  He always remained a great fan of NASCAR racing and he liked to attend antique car shows and collect car memorabilia.

Gary was the "go to" guy of the family.  Everyone knew they could always count on him for a favor, for a ride or for help to get a job done.  He will be dearly missed by sons, Michael Hunt and wife Michele of Bangor and Gary Hunt Jr. and wife Melanie of Moore Twp.; grandchildren, James, Christopher, and Jessie; 1 great-grandchild, EJ; sister Sandy Wambold of Bangor and brother Wayne Hunt of Idaho; nieces, Betty Jennings and Wendy Szarek.  He was predeceased by a grandson, Jacob in infancy and a niece, Barbara Hess.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing, Wednesday from 10-11am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Wind Gap, PA.  A funeral service will follow at 11am.  Burial will be in Wind Gap Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/donate
