Gerald D. Gilbert, 85, of Saylorsburg, Ross Twp., passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. He was the beloved husband of Marion Teel Gilbert, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage this past April. Born on July 12, 1931, in Bangor, he was the son of the late Armitt and Harriet Jones Gilbert.

Gerald attended Pen Argyl High School, and went on to honorably serve his country with the US Air Force from 1949-1951 during the Korean Conflict. He initially worked for the Lehigh-New England Railroad, and later worked as a Conductor for Conrail, retiring after more than 50 years of service.  An avid outdoorsman, Gerald always enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing.

He attended Faith Alive Community Church in Wind Gap, and was a member of the VFW in Pen Argyl.

In addition to his beloved wife Marion, Gerald is survived by his daughters, Pamela Beal and her husband Matthew of Nazareth, and Jody Goffredo and her husband Mark of Roseto. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Danielle, Mark, Jr., Michael, Ranae, Josiah, and Megan; 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Potts of Nazareth.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Faith Alive Community Church, 10 East Mechanic Street, Wind Gap, PA 18091. A Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the Church with the Rev. Matt Whistler officiating. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Twp. Services are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 202 West Street, Wind Gap, PA.
