Gilbert G. Farnsworth, 96, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Tatamy, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016.  He was the husband of the late Katherine Gum Farnsworth, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage before her passing in May, 2011. Born December 14, 1919 in Quick City, MO, he was one of eight children born to the late Samuel A. and Bertie Hixson Farnsworth.

Gilbert graduated from Blairstown High School in Blairstown, MO, in 1938. He was employed by the Wright Aeronautical Corp. in Patterson NJ, from 1941-1945 as an Aircraft Assembler. From 1945 – 1947, he honorably served his country with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. After leaving the military, he lived and worked in California and Missouri for a number of years, and then eventually settled back east and worked as a pretzel maker for Keystone Foods in Easton, from where he retired in 1982 after 11 years of service.

Gilbert was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Tatamy, where he was formerly very active in the Women's Guild Baking Program.

Gilbert is survived by his brother, Paul Farnsworth and his wife Shirley of Ft. Myers, FL, with whom he resided after the death of his wife. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Clifton, Orbie and Fern, and sisters, Sylvia Jordan, Madge Bahannon, and Wanda Wiskur.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services which will be held on Friday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Forks Cemetery, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA, 18083. Services are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gilbert's name may be offered to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, P O Box 188, Tatamy, PA 18085-0188.
