Gladys E. Pritchard, 87, of Nazareth, died Saturday evening, May 31,2014 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit in Allentown. She was the widow of Arch F. Pritchard who died June 24, 1988. BORN: Born on July 27, 1926 in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Freddie and Merril (Fehr) Werner, and was a lifetime resident of Northampton County. PERSONAL: A 1944 graduate of Nazareth High School, Gladys also graduated from Northampton Community College in 1973 with a degree in General Education. She was an instructional aide at Shafer School for 20 years until retiring in 1988. She also was a bookkeeper for Freddie Werner Construction, Nazareth Sewerage Company and the Pontiac Agency, all in Nazareth. MEMBERSHIPS: Gladys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nazareth where she taught Sunday School for 29 years, belonged to the Katherine VonBora Society and did volunteer work. SURVIVORS: Surviving are two children, Craig Pritchard and his wife Anastasia of Bushkill Township and Carol Kleinle and her husband David of Bangor; four grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Evan and Megan; a great granddaughter, Mackenzie; and a brother, Richard F. Werner of Columbus, OH. SERVICES: There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad Street, Nazareth. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Thursday at the church, with the Rev. David B. Schaeffer officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Nazareth.
