Gloria A.
Spohn
Oct 3, 1943 — Jul 21, 2021
Bethlehem
Gloria Ann (Slutter) Spohn, age 77, of Bethlehem, formerly of Nazareth, passed from this life on July 21, 2021. She was the light in the room, life of the party and had an exceptional sense of humor.
Gloria was born in Easton, PA on October 3, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Maryetta Frutchey Slutter. She shared 54 years of marriage with her high school sweetheart Charlie this past November.
Gloria was a 1961 graduate of Nazareth Area High School. Her work motto could be summed up by the quote; "work hard, play hard!" She proudly worked at Bethlehem Steel for several years. Later while in her 30's, she found her love of working with numbers and worked in the accounting field for Nazareth National Bank, the former Windmill Restaurant and finally settled in at Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for over 20 years. Upon her retirement, she became Grammy Glo extraordinaire. Her life was a living example of working hard and having fun in what you do.
Gloria enjoyed traveling, dancing, singing, bowling, reading, hugs, and parties. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a loyal friend to many. She treasured her life, her family and friends and embraced every moment with them all. With broken hearts we will mourn her and miss her dearly but, we will also laugh while we reminisce about our time with her because it is impossible not to.
She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, in Nazareth, for 57 years. She sang in the church choir for over 20 years and served on various committees, worked in the pre-school Sunday school rooms and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Gloria also enjoyed spending time in her garden and had a special place in her heart for dogs.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charlie; daughter Christine Siegfried (David) of Bethlehem; son Jeffrey of Arizona; daughter Debra Smith (Erick) of Virginia; grandchildren, Jacob and Kendra Siegfried, Tanner and Arian Spohn and Ella and Addison Smith. She is also survived by her brother Ernest Slutter of Bethlehem and three nieces, Lori Bader (Mark) of California, Annette Huntley (Don) of Arizona and Teresa Fleck (Jeff) of Nevada; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Larry and sister-in-law Alice who had resided in Nevada.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, July 26 from 6-8pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA and Tuesday, July 27, from 10-11 am in Wesley United Methodist Church, 2540 Center St, Bethlehem, PA. Funeral services, with Pastor Curtis Kemmerer presiding, will follow Tuesday at 11 am in the church. Gloria will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth. Contributions, in Gloria's name, may be made to Rescue Road Trips (Dog Transport), PO BOX 107, White Cottage, OH 43711 or St. John's United Church of Christ, 183 S. Broad St., Nazareth, PA 18064.
