Goldie M. Long, 88, of Stroud Township, formerly of Pen Argyl, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Whitestone Corner Care, Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Long, Jr., with whom she shared 34 years of marriage at the time of his passing in July, 2004. Born on September 3, 1927, in Tazewell County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mazie Young Copeland.
Goldie was a textile worker for the Collins and Aikman Corp., in Pen Argyl for many years. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and was an avid crocheter and quilter. She was also a devoted fan of the Phillies and the Yankees..
Goldie is survived by her children, Kathy Trillo of MA, Jan Emes and her husband Gary of Stroudsburg, Kenny Elswick, Frances Thomas of Pen Argyl, David Elswick of SC, and Matthew Long and his wife Kim of Wind Gap; and her step-children, Karen Frey and her husband Jim of Pen Argyl, Myra Bond of Wind Gap, and David Long and his wife Kathy of Roseto. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
SERVICES : A Time of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 12:00 noon at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
