Obituary

Gordon F. Santee, 86, of Easton, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, surrounded by his family in Newtown, PA. He was the husband of the late Molly Klein Santee who passed away in 1986; together they shared 27 years of marriage. Born September 14, 1928 in Easton, Gordon was a son of the late Robert and Ruth Frace Santee. Gordon graduated from Easton Area High School in 1946. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from Lafayette College in 1951, and a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Syracuse University in 1964. His career began as a Research Chemist for Dixie, but he is surely better remembered for the lives he touched as a Chemistry Teacher at Easton Area High School, from where he retired in 1993 after 28 years of service. Besides his family and teaching, Gordon had a great passion for baseball, gardening and hunting. He was involved with the Lehigh Valley Men's Senior Baseball League almost from its inception in every capacity from player to commissioner. In his retirement, he loved hunting with friends in PA, New York, Montana and Idaho. Gordon was a very active member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Tatamy, where he served on many committees and sang in the choir. Gordon is survived by his beloved children, Susan Lueckenbach of Wilmington, NC; Sharon DeKorte and her husband James of Newtown, PA; and Steven Santee and his wife Connie of Bristow, VA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jack, Andy, Ryan, Tyler, Caroline, Olivia, Matthew and Andrew; a brother, Bruce Santee of Easton; a sister-in-law, Carole Santee of Nazareth; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sisters Alberta Fehnel and Beryl Young, and a brother, Dale Santee. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 3, from 6-8 pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, and on Wednesday, March 4, from 10-11 am in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 4th and Broad Streets, Tatamy. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am in the church with the Rev. Ernest G. Shaffer presiding. Burial will follow in Forks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gordon's name may be offered to the Make A Wish Foundation, 707 Grant Street, 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA, 15219.
