Obituary

Harold L. "Joe " Werner, 85, of Easton passed away September 2, 2013 in Easton Hospital. He was the husband of the former Joan Imperial with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born: June 18, 1928 in Easton, he was a son of the late Robert D. Sr. and Jane Kunkle Werner. Personal: Joe attended Easton High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a diesel mechanic and a chauffeur for Atlantic Richfield retiring after 21 years of service. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed flying ultra light airplanes, motorcycle hill climbs where he took first place in several races and the outdoors including hunting and fishing. Joe also followed NASCAR and was a diehard fan of "his" Washington Redskins. Memberships: Joe was a member of Palmer Moravian Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Wilson Boro Lines Club, Bushkill Valley Motorcycle Club, Dallas-Lafayette Lodge #396 F&AM for over 50 years and the American Legion Post #9 in Palmer Twsp. Survivors: In addition to his wife Joan, Joe is survived by one daughter Ann DeYoung of Kill Devil Hills, NC, two grandchildren Jessie Kauffman and her husband Eric of Oceanside,CA and Michael Einfalt of Nazareth, two great-grandchildren Avery and Callen Kauffman; one brother Thomas Werner and his wife Lois of Easton and many neices and nephews. Joe was predeceased by brothers Charles, Walter and Robert Jr. and sisters Anna Mae Corriere and Ruth Kern. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am in Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John St, Easton, PA 18045 with The Rt. Rev. Douglas H. Kleintop presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 6-8pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home 407 Belvidere St Nazareth and 10-11am Friday in the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the church in Joe's memory.
