Hattie A. Rissmiller, 99, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Saucon Valley Manor, in Hellertown. Born on August 7, 1926, in Bath, to the late Joseph F. and Mary (Yandrisovits) Herman. She was the beloved wife of Robert U. Rissmiller Jr., with whom she shared 48 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1993.

Hattie's early years laid the foundation for a life filled with love and service.

Professionally, Hattie dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse's aide at Gracedale and later as an at-home caregiver. Her passion for helping those in need was evident in the care and compassion she showed to every individual she served. Even into her 80s, Hattie continued to work, driven by her unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

She was a life-long member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Nazareth where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She found joy in fellowship and with the opportunity to serve her church community. Along with her sisters, she was very active with the annual church picnic and ran the waffle stand for many years.

Hattie's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She was an exceptional baker, known for her delicious checkerboard cakes, cookies, kipfels, and apple pies. An avid reader, she also kept up with pop culture and news, ensuring she was always ready to engage in lively conversation. Hattie's love for television was matched only by her love for her many friends, with whom she enjoyed spending time.

Above all, she cherished her family. Her generous and loving nature made her home a warm and welcoming place, where laughter and love were always in abundance. Hattie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds. Her memory will be treasured forever.

Hattie's legacy is carried on by her four children, Glenn R. "Bud" Rissmiller and his wife Joan of Blandon, Linda L. Brazenec of Hellertown, Cynthia M. Singer and her husband Jeremy of San Diego, CA, and Mary Ellen Erdie and her husband Matthew of Nazareth; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen J. Follweiler and niece, Jane Follweiler both of Nazareth. Each family member reflects a piece of Hattie's generous spirit and loving nature. She was preceded in death by her siblings Theresa Mikovits, Anna Mikovits, William Herman, Joseph S. "Joey" Herman, John J. Mikovits, Frank S. "Mickey" Mikovits, Mary I. "Mitz" Solderitch, and Emma J. Fogel; and a nephew, Rodney K. Fogel.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening, January 7, from 6 – 8 pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.There will be no viewing times Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial, will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, the morning of January 8, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 23 Forest Dr., Nazareth. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery Mausoleum.
