Irene Bettini, 89, of Wind Gap, PA, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Gracedale Nursing Home. Born May 29, 1925 in Wind Gap, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Zampini) Bettini. Irene worked as a sewing machine operator for various garment factories in the area, including Valerie Fashions, Gaye Sportswear, and Majestic, from where she retired. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pen Argyl, and also a member of UNITE. Irene is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Renaldo of Bethlehem, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister and one brother. Family and friends are invited to call from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 31, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, 300 West Babbit Street, Pen Argyl. A funeral mass will follow at 1:30 pm in the church, with the Rev. Msgr. Vincent York presiding. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Pen Argyl. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street, Wind Gap. Memorial contributions in Irene's name may be offered to the Building Fund of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish , at the above address.
