Irene May Christman, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, with her loving husband by her side at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. She was the beloved wife of Raymond J. Christman, Jr., with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Born May 29, 1926, in Wilson Boro, she was the daughter of the late Willis C. and Estella M. Schrader Bowman.
Irene graduated from Wilson High School. Before retiring she worked as a Librarian at the Nazareth Jr. High School. She enjoyed water color painting, and playing in the card club. She volunteered her time at the Nazareth Library, St. John's Library and at the Moravian Hall Square Library. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nazareth.
In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by her son, Bruce Christman and his wife Lynn of Virginia, and her daughter Kay Marushak and her husband Henry of Allentown. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Derek Marushak and his wife Alissa, Evan Marushak, and Jennifer and Amy Christman; and a brother, Donald Bowman and his wife Jackie of Rochester, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, July 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad Street, Nazareth. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David B. Schaeffer officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown. Services are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.
