Irene M. Itterly, 87, of Plainfield Twp., passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Easton Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ralph M. Itterly, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2000. Born on February 10, 1929, in Plainfield Twp, she was a daughter of the late Harry Rupell, Sr. and Florence (Hoppel) Rupell.

Irene worked as a seamstress in various local garment factories. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed being surrounded by as many friends and family as possible. Irene was known for her kindness and compassion, and always reached out to anyone in need. She was also known as a fantastic baker, and she always sent everyone home with plenty of her special baked goods. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield Twp.

Irene was a loving mother and will be sadly missed by her children, Duane Itterly of Palmerton, John Itterly and his wife Jamie, and Diane Anders, all of Plainfield Twp., Susan Gerdes and her husband Lyonel of Miami, FL, and Donna Schrader of Wind Gap. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Nettie Newman. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Harry R. Itterly, a daughter, Sandra A. Dietrick, and a brother, Harry Rupell, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 7, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Road, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church, with Rev. George Zacharda officiating. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C. 202 West St., Wind Gap.
