Obituary

Isabel "Izzy" Smith, 86, of Moore Township passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the loving wife of the late Harold Emory Smith who passed away November 27, 1985.

Born March 19, 1938, in Bushkill Township, Izzy was one of 6 daughters born to the late Oscar C. and Gladys V. (Marsh) King. A graduate of Nazareth High School, she went on to work in the textile industry as a tagger.

Isabel was a woman of strong faith and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nazareth where she very active with Ruth's Circle, the Festival Choir and the Philethia Choir. In prior years she was also active with the Tatamy Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Izzy was born into a family where music resonated through the walls of their home, a rich musical legacy that she nurtured and expanded upon throughout her life. She carried out those traditions by sharing her talents and uplifting others through composition of songs, playing the guitar and singing. Her voice, a blend of warmth and clarity, became a familiar comfort to those who had the pleasure of hearing her sing at the Salem UCC in Moorestown and, through the years, she became well known in the local communities for her various solo and group performances. She was a kind woman that some have described as being a real sweetheart and sometimes, even a jokester. In addition to her music Izzy loved the outdoors. She enjoyed her yard work and tending to her flower garden. Recently she became interested in painting of ceramics. Izzy's unwavering devotion to her church, her love for music, and her passion for the beauty of nature were the hallmarks of a life lived with purpose and grace.

She is survived by a step-son, Kenneth Smith; sisters, Betty Jackson, twin sister Maybel Smith, Caroline Albright and Dorothy Yannuzzi; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a step-son, Robert Smith and sister, Arlene Heffentrayer.
