Isilda Anjos Carvalho, 87, formerly of New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in Portugal. She was the wife of the late Rudolfo Carvalho who died on August 6, 1986. Born February 18, 1928, in Monte Redondo, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose Bento and Maria Dos Anjos. Isilda, along with her husband and son, Luis, came to the United States in June of 1966, aboard the SS Christoforo Colombo and became a US citizen. Throughout her life she worked in children's apparel, both as a merchant and a seamstress. Locally, she worked for Garland & Togs, Elizabeth, NJ. Isilda is survived by her only child, Luis Carvalho and his wife, Luisa, of Bangor. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Gema, Rudy and Chris; 5 great-grandchildren, Jason, Jordan, Eric, Elizabeth & Ben; and 2 sisters. In addition to her parents and husband, Rudolfo, she was predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 26, from 9:30-10:30 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel & St. Vincent DePaul Churches, 436 South Second Street, Bangor, PA. Burial will follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
