James P. “Jim” Evely, 88, of Nazareth, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Upper Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 10, 1937, in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Jim was the beloved husband of the late Sandra “Sandy” Lilly Evely, who passed away on March 25, 2024. He was the son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Lillis) Evely, and he was also predeceased by his sister, Johann Evely. Those who knew Jim will remember him as a devoted husband, a loyal family man, and a steady presence whose warmth and good nature touched many lives.

He was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1956, and continued his education at Wyoming Seminary before graduating from Rider College. Following his studies, Jim honorably served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to others. His service remained an important part of his story and a source of pride throughout his life.

Jim later devoted his career to the family business, R & R Provisions in Easton, where he retired as president. Through his leadership, hard work, and dedication, he helped guide the business with the same integrity and care that characterized every part of his life. He was respected not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for the thoughtful and dependable way he conducted himself among coworkers, friends, and the broader community.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, including yard work and tending to the animals he and Sandy loved, especially their goats. He found happiness in the routines of home; he genuinely appreciated the everyday blessings that made life meaningful.

Jim and Sandy also shared a deep love of travel and racing. They treasured the time they spent together in their motorhome, traveling to different race venues and making memories along the way. Among their favorite traditions was attending the Daytona 500, which they enjoyed for more than 40 years. These trips were a reflection of their enduring partnership and the many adventures they shared over the years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth and the Easton Area Corvette Club. His faith was an important part of his life, and he valued the fellowship and friendships he found through his church and community involvement. Whether at church, among fellow car enthusiasts, or at home with loved ones, Jim carried himself with quiet strength and genuine kindness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated later at a later date. Private burial for both Jim and Sandy will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
