James P. Kuzma, 63, of Wind Gap, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 30, 2016, while visiting his son in Jemison, Alabama. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Anne Keiper Kuzma, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born on November 19, 1953, in South Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Peter and Eleanor Kelly Kuzma.
James worked as a Millwright for Bethlehem Steel for more than 30 years until its closing. For the past 10 years, he worked for Prime Conduit in Nazareth. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping and cooking outside. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by four children, Jacqueline Lentz and her husband Gary of Walnutport, Stephanie Kels and her husband Henry, III, and Elizabeth Kuzma and her husband Fernando Ruiz, both of Easton, and James P. Kuzma, Jr. and his wife Dovie of Jemison, Alabama. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Steve Kuzma and his wife Lori, and Mike Kuzma and his wife Annie; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Byron Kuzma, and a great-grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to call from 11 am to 12 noon on Friday, January 6, in the Chapel at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, PA, 18109, where funeral services will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Ken Deusa officiating. The family requests those attending to dress in casual, warm attire. Private burial will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street,Wind Gap.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James' memory may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 www.stjude.org
