Obituary

Janet H. Hinkel, 66, of Lower Nazareth Twp., passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was the beloved wife of James W. Hinkel, Jr.; together they shared 45 years of marriage this past May 16. Born on January 10, 1949 in Wilson Boro, she was a daughter of the late Alvin "Jack" and Beatrice Kreidler Hunt. Janet graduated from Nazareth High School with the Class of 1966, and then attended the Electronic Computer Programming Institute of Allentown. Early on, she worked at various businesses in the area, including the Twin Kiss/Little Jimmys, and Mack Printing until her children were born and she became a stay at home mom. In later years, she worked for the Nazareth Area School District Cafeteria, Lehigh Litho, Lehigh Valley Post Office and CDS, from where she retired in 2011. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Janet was an avid Penn State Fan, enjoyed bowling at the Jacksonian Club in Nazareth, camping, going to the casinos, and spending time with her grandchildren. Janet was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lower Nazareth Township. In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her loving sons, Ryan and his wife Amanda, and Nathan and his wife Corinne, both of Nazareth, and three beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Addison and Teagan. Also surviving is her brother, Jack Hunt (Sharon), of Palmer Twp., and her sisters, Judy Keppel (John) of East Allen Twp., Jeanne Hunt of Lower Nazareth Twp., and Jamie Hartranft (Michael) of Forks Twp. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 22, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere Street, Nazareth, and from 10 to 11 am on Friday, October 23, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem, PA, 18020 (Route 191, Hecktown). A funeral service will begin at 11 am in the Church, with the Rev. Dr. Christian Eichorn officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Hecktown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet's name may be offered to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address, or to the Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company, 230 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18020.
