Obituary

Janet A. Mellwig, 86, of Tatamy, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 5, 2020 in St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus. Her husband Richard A. Mellwig passed away on April 2, 2018; together they shared 59 years of marriage.

Born May 12, 1934 in Tatamy, she was a daughter of the late Clarence O. and Dianna H. Ott Lichtenwalner.

Janet graduated from Nazareth High School and later worked for Binney and Smith prior to her marriage.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Tatamy and the Tatamy Historical Society where she served as secretary.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Robin Kostenbader and her husband Marlyn, and Karen Mellwig; and one grandson Cody Kostenbader, all of Tatamy; three sisters, Dawn Dunn and June Smith, both of Bethlehem, and Gwen Lichtenwalner of Nazareth; one brother, Hale Lichtenwalner of Nazareth; as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by brothers, Clarence, Jay and DeVere; and sister, LaRue Dunn.

A public graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2 pm in Hope Cemetery, Rt. 191, Hecktown. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Janet's name may be offered to Hope Lutheran Church, PO Box 237, Tatamy, PA 18085.
