Joan H. Gaumer, 84, of Lower Nazareth Twp., passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital Anderson campus. She was the wife of Edwin H. Gaumer, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage at the time of his passing in March, 2008. Born October 20, 1932, in Nazareth, she was a daughter of the late Walter Henshue, Sr. and Cora Keller Henshue.

Joan graduated from Nazareth High School with the Class of 1950. Earlier in life, she became a licensed beautician and operated a beauty shop in her home. She later managed the Print Shop at Lafayette College, from where she retired. She formerly served as a member of the School Board of the Nazareth Area School District. She was also a licensed pilot. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hecktown, where she served on the Altar Guild.

Joan is survived by two sons, Craig Gaumer and his companion Linda Gilbride of Laurys Station, and Brad Gaumer and his wife Marian of Lower Nazareth Twp. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Walter Henshue, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Wind Gap, and Harold Henshue and his wife Donna of Forks Twp.; and a sister, Faye Bubihas of Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 11, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18020 (Route 191, Hecktown), where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Christian Eichorn officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown. Services are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.

In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions in Joan's memory may be offered to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address.
