Joan T. Johnson, 90, of Nazareth, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.  Born in Sandt's Eddy, on October 30, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Victor H. and Madeline H. Thomas.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Maynard T. Johnson, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage prior to his death in 2002.

Joan was a graduate of Nazareth High School Class of 1950. After graduation, she dedicated her life to her family, becoming a stay-at-home mom and a homemaker. Passionate about baking, she enjoyed teaching and sharing her tips and recipes with her daughter, grand daughter- in- law, granddaughters, and great granddaughter. It was one of her favorites things to do. She also liked going to casinos. Prior to his passing, Joan also enjoyed taking bus trips to Atlantic City with her husband.  Later she enjoyed trips to Wind Creek in Bethlehem, with family and friends.

Joan was an active member of Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth. Always willing to lend a hand in her church community, she was a greeter during Sunday services, and a member of the Counting and Grief committees.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her 3 children: son Ricky Johnson (wife Sue), daughter Jan Remel (husband Cyril), son Jeffrey Johnson (wife Michele) all of Nazareth; sister Jeanne Gyulia of Wind Gap; 6 grandchildren, grandsons Bret Remel (companion Devon) of Nazareth, Jeff Remel (wife Bridget) of Cochranville, Ryan Johnson (wife Julia) of Huntington, NY and granddaughters, Kelly Stoudt (husband Matt) of Nazareth, Stacy Hicks (husband Tim) of Nazareth, Tricia Butz (husband Chad) of Middletown; 5 great granddaughters, Juliana and Caroline Remel, Oakley Stoudt, Ella and Gia Hicks; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Victor H. Thomas (wife Pat), sisters Doris Heckman (husband Harold), Isabelle McGough (husband Carroll), Nancy Hillborn (husbands James Neumeyer and H. Wayne Hillborn), and brother-in law, Rollin Johnson.
