Joan J. Luckey, 86, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in Gracedale.  She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Luckey who passed away on November 25, 2000.  Together they celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Joan was a graduate of Nazareth High School, class of 1953 where she was a member of the band playing both the timpani and the bells and was an excellent pianist.

After Joan and Kenny married, they moved to Newport, Rhode Island where he was stationed in the Navy.  After his discharge, Kenny joined the Wind Gap Blue Eagle Drum Corps and Joan was president of their auxiliary.  She was employed at Bear Automotive in Bangor and NAPA Distribution Center in Wind Gap. Her favorite place was the Wind Gap American Legion where she served as the Steward for almost 10 years.

She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap, a Boy Scout Den Mother when her children were young and a lifetime member of the Wind Gap American Legion Auxiliary where she served as Chaplain for several years.

Joan is survived by 3 children; Christopher and his wife Sherry of Washington Township, Brian and his wife Kelly of Wind Gap and Mary Kay of Wind Gap; 6 grandchildren Jennifer Covine, Amanda Sisock, Ashley Gorzelic, Deborah Luckey, Brittany Riley and Cheyenne Fish as well as 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Social Hall, 217 N. Broadway, Wind Gap.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's name may be sent to the Wind Gap American Legion Auxiliary Unit #724.  Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 202 West St. Wind Gap.
