John J. Case, 80, of Wind Gap, passed away with his family by his side early Tuesday morning, August 30, 2016 in Country Meadows Nursing Center, Bethlehem.  He was the loving husband of Ruth Snyder Case, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born October 19, 1935, in Pen Argyl, PA, he was a son of the late Orville and Esther Raines Case.

John attended Pen Argyl High School where he played both football and basketball, and graduated with the Class of 1953. He honorably served his country with the U S Army for two years, and then worked as a Foreman and Lathe Operator for Bethlehem Steel Corp., from where he retired after 37 years of service. He also worked part time for the Wind Gap Borough. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and previously enjoyed volunteering his time with the Wind Gap Fire Co. and Ambulance. He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, Wind Gap.

Along with his beloved wife Ruth, John is survived by three sons, Brian and his wife Ann of Coplay, Eric and his wife Angela of Scottsdale, AZ, and Matthew and his wife Riki of Park City, UT. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Jared and his wife Lindsay, Jessica, Tanner, Nathan, Julia and Erin; 3 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jonah and Alice; and his brother, Glenn Case and his wife Rhea of Pen Argyl. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Sherwood Case, and his twin sister, Joan Miller.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 3, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry Street, Wind Gap, PA, 18091, Funeral services will be held in the Church at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Dean D. Frey officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Wind Gap Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street, Wind Gap.
