John David "Dave" Panovec passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 81 in Dallas, PA. Dave was born to Constance M. and John L. Panovec on August 31, 1942. One of nine children and the eldest son, Dave, or J.D. as he was known in some circles, grew up on the family farm in Forks Township just outside of Easton, PA.

He graduated from Easton High School in 1960 and soon after joined the Army and was stationed in Thule, Greenland. Upon his return from military duty, he was employed for a number of years by Mack Printing in Easton. In 1974 he relocated to Lake Tahoe in California. He attended dealers' school and became a craps dealer at Harvey's Hotel and Casino and later dealt at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. In 2006 Dave retired from the casinos and returned to his roots to live a quiet life in Pennsylvania. Dave was an avid sports fan. He religiously followed the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and the Penn State Nittany Lions. He also enjoyed following his nephew's career in baseball.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Constance and John Panovec, his sister Judith M. Panovec, and his brothers Thomas F., Jeffrey L. and Michael E. Panovec. He is survived by his brother Jason W. Panovec, sisters Mildred J. Perry, Noreen E. Martinez, and Susan D. Allen along with many nephews and nieces. Arrangements are under the care of Schmidt Funeral Home, PC 407 Belvidere St. Nazareth. Memorial Services will be private.
