John C. Schweitzer, 84, of Nazareth, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township. BORN: May 19, 1929, in Nazareth, he was the son of the late John C. and Aldine V. Danner Schweitzer. He was the husband of his beloved wife, the former Elizabeth Lokay with whom he shared 59 years of marriage prior to her death, on January 15, 2011. PERSONAL: John was employed by ESSROC Cement Co. for 46 years until retirement. During that time, he worked at several jobs including crane operator, maintenance mechanic and night watchman. Locally, John was well known for his large rabbit and heart snow sculptures and was always eager to share his photos of them with everyone. He and his wife Elizabeth loved taking motorcycle rides all over the area, especially to the Pocono region in the fall. John was a man of many talents. He loved working on cars, and motorcycles in addition to being an expert carpenter and mason. Over the years, he built clocks, furniture and several fireplaces. SURVIVORS: Two daughters, Joanne E. Cavanaugh and her husband, David Sr. of Alpha, NJ, and Janet M. Kline and her husband, Robert Martin of Danielsville (Moore Township); four grandchildren, David Cavanaugh Jr., Tiffany Till, Elissa Kline and Travis Kline; two great-grandsons, Erik and Connor John Sommers; a sister, Aleene Hiltman in CA. He was predeceased by three sisters. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA 18064. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.
