Joyce E. Calabrese, 84, of Wind Gap, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert P. Calabrese, Sr., who died on April 2, 2015; together they shared 64 years of marriage last May. Born December 5, 1930 in Matamoras, PA, Joyce was the daughter of the late Neldon and Frances (Edinger) Remey. While growing up, Joyce's family owned and operated Remey's Dairy Bar on 9th Street in Stroudsburg, and she graduated from Stroudsburg High School. Early on, Joyce worked for the Pen Argyl School District in the cafeteria at both the High School and the Wind Gap Middle School. She later worked in Quality Control at B Braun Medical in Allentown from where she retired in 1995. Joyce was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Joyce is survived by her beloved children, Lisa Hahn and her husband Barry of Wind Gap; Cia Marie Kneebone and her husband Joseph of Saylorsburg; Albert P. Calabrese, Jr. and his wife Christine of Poughkeepsie, NY; and Thomas Calabrese and his wife Michelle of Pen Argyl. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kristen, Chelsea, Rhianna, Jared, Curran, Nicolas, Miranda and Ian; and two great-grandchildren, Arrayan and Joshua. In addition to her parents and husband, Al, she was predeceased by her brother, Neldon "Pete" Remey. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 am on Monday, May 18, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street, Wind Gap, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. C. Frank Terhune presiding. Burial will be in Wind Gap Cemetery.
